A Times Editorial
Give elections back to voters

In print: Sunday, November 9, 2008

The election Tuesday once again demonstrated why our state needs a new system for drawing voting district lines. Floridians voted for Barack Obama over John McCain by about 200,000 votes. But you could barely tell that the state had shifted course politically by looking at the…

Mobilize for Change

To overcome the corporate sponsorship of the Clinton campaign pouring into the following states, Americans from other states are traveling to support Obama in Pennsylvania, Indiana, North Carolina, and West Virginia.

If you live in the yellow regions close to any of these primary states, visit the respective primary state page through the link at for info…

Why The Bailout is a Waste of Money

By Edwin

It's incredible what a bad job is being done to inform the public why the bailout cannot correct overvalued markets; for example, the DOW may be overvalued by potentially 5000 points. It is a complex issue, so I won't insult your intelligence by trying to summarize it here. Rather, I will share two articles from what are normally on opposing sides and then get to the point:

Rep Castor Stands Up for Main Street

By Edwin
Tuesday 30 of September, 2008

Democrats were elected to a majority in 2006, in great part because of the corruption Americans felt when they associated Haliburton's astonishing no-bid contract gains with Vice President Cheney. Now we are being asked to trust the former CEO of Goldman Sachs, with $700 Billion, with nothing addressing the root cause of the problem. McCain promises bi-partisanship and gives up little more than the words "may" and "should" to protect or assist MainStreet. If there were "require" and must with t…

Three Points Everyone Needs to Know About Palin's Speech

By Edwin
Monday 08 of September, 2008

It is important that your friends, family, and co-workers are not mislead. The truth will only come to light, if good people bring attention to it. Please encourage everyone to talk about factcheck.org's review of her speech.

Notable examples:

  • Palin may have said “Thanks, but no thanks” on the Bridge to Nowhere, though not until Congress had pretty much killed it already. But that was a sharp turnaround from the position she took during her gubernatorial campaign, and the town where

Sara Palin and Abstinence Only Sex Ed

By Edwin
Friday 05 of September, 2008
People are not attacking Palin's daughter, they are rightly pointing out the hypocrisy of a Republican establishment that has advanced the politics of character assassination and undermined the Freedom of Religion in pursuit of power. The internet should be replete with apologies from Republicans for supporting right-wing media, religious, and party wackos who bludgeon and litmus test fellow Americans with some Biblical passages when politically expedient, while not doing so with other passages…
